View Full Version : Not a 911 but video issue

OK.. I've lost video connection somehow on both Real Player and Windows Media Player. I get audio, and no matter what I do, download the file, or run from Net, I can't get video.

Thought it was firewall, but removed it for moment, no change.

Any ideas I will try!!

Have you tried re-setting your defaults? Tools/ Internet Options/Advanced /restore defaults?

Maybe this will do it?

Try going to Windows Media Player then tools option file types make sure all are checked or hit select all. If that don't work you may need to try reinstalling Media Player.
Hope this helps

What's the format of the file you're trying to play? You can sometimes run into issues with different formats that WM player doesn't have the codec for (encoding), or if the codec is corrupt.

If you're trying to view an mpeg, try viewing wmf or asf file (if you can find one), which would allow you to validate whether it's a codec issue. Each file type has it's own encoding.

Also, here's a good article on troubleshooting WM player:
