I have a Dell 17' flat screen monitor that is 6 months out of warranty.....broke. The thing just flashes and acts like it is turning off and on. What is the life expectancy for these things? Is it worth trying to get it fixed? :(

First try another monitor to see if it's the video card or bad wire.

They should last a few years

i'll 2nd the motion. is there another computer u can hook it up to that u know works? if it does the same on the other 1, most likely the cable from the monitor to the box is fragged. replace monitor.

The card is good, I'm using an old NEC right now. I swapped cables, monitors, and even CPUs. I think it's just fried. You think I should get it looked at or just chunk it?

junk it. would cost too much to replace the cable

That's what I was afraid of, damn another $400 for a monitor. That sucks and blows at the same time.

You could try calling Dell, and if you give them a hard time about it, how it should out last the warranty. It is worth a try. They gave me $150 + a $20 rebate on a new upgrade monitor when mine crapped out.
Good Luck
