View Full Version : Best Service Manual?

This may have been addressed earlier but could find nothing with the search engine. Here's my question. What is the best service manual to cover the softails with the 80's-99 Evo engine? The HD manual or Clymers? Or is there somthing even better? I'm looking into a Heritage Softail and want the best manual for my garage.

Buy the manual right from HD...and while you're there, buy the parts catalog for your bike too..
It shows nice exploded views that the service manual doesn't..It's helped me out more than once.. :)

With out a doubt the Harley one.
Get both the electric & mech book along with the parts book.

They cost about $150 for all of them but they are the best tools you can have :D

I didn't think the Evo's had a separate electrical. I think all my wiring diagrams, etc. are in the service manual.

HD all the way for this one. The electrical is included in the service manual. This will save you grief and maybe even your butt in the long run. :)

That's for the imput. I must say however I really do like my Clymers manual for my Shovel that I bought at a swap meet for 20 bucks years ago. That goes in the saddlebag while the HD book is in the garage. I'll look at the softail book at the dealer. Thanks.
