Hello everyone, Just bought my dream ride about a month ago, 2003 Hertitage softail classic w/2000 miles, stage 1 screamin eagles, EFI. Problem is it's been to damn cold to ride much! The little that I've rode has been GREAT! Mechanical Viagra. The guy gave me a bell that goes on the frame, for Gremlins. I thought it was a pretty neat story, do any of you guys have bells on your rides? I've wanted a HD all my life, kinda living my dream, feel like a kid again. COYOTE :D

Welcome coyote1! Gremlin bells are very helpful and you should never buy one for yourself. They only work if they are given to you by someone else! Enjoy the forums! 1beer

Welcome aboard. I have a bell. Hubby put it on for my birthday. I like the story and the bell reminds me of both the hunny and the story. Had one really close encounter after the bell and didn't get hurt or scratch my ride....................Maybe there is some truth to the bell. I won't take it off that's for sure. :D

Welcome to HCG. Bells, you must have at least one and they do work better when received as a gift from a fellow rider. It now your turn to get one for someone else.

This is the first time I heard the phase "GREAT! Mechanical Viagra" used to describe a Harley and you may have uncovered the real reason Harley sells the V-ROD.

Welcome to the forums, sounds like you have a nice bike, congradulations post a picture when you have time. As for the bell, don't leave home with out it, I have had the same bell, on the last 3 bikes and they do work. The gremlins hate them and they are always extra special, because they have to be given. Don't work worth a damn if you just go and buy one.

Welcome aboard! This is a great group of bikers here that I think you will enjoy talking to.

One note on bells: I used to have one on my bike. However, I forgot I attached it and while riding heard a strange sound. I am thinking something has come loose or mechanical problems. I spent several hours riding and inspecting my bike trying to figure the cause of this strange sound, before the embarrasment hit me and I realized the strange sound was the damn bell. I had wasted hours of my time trying to solve a problem that did not exist. I am so glad I did not seek out a friend or a mechanic to help me with this problem, so no one found out what an idiot I was.

I threw the bell away. Have not had any problems since! ;)

I was given a bell also, but I haven't put it on yet...I am waiting for the person who gave it to me, to put it on for me, for extra good luck!

oops! I almost forgot! Welcome to HCG coyote!!! This is the best place to hang, with such great folk to hang with! :)

Welcome Coyote! Snowflake, AZ? I'd like to see a picture of the place and your bike!

I've wondered if you all believed in the bell. While my husband does drive, it is officially MY bike, so I'm not buying him one to put on MY bike.

Old Salt, what a man you are to admit that here. You've got my respect and laughs!

Welcome, Coyote!! I also have a bell on the bike. Given to me by a very close friend. Salt, don't feel lonely!! I heard this little clanging sound, and was a bit concerned when I realized it was the bell. Too funny!!!
