I was looking through a web site and found a solid tappet conversion for Evo motors, why would you want to ? Is there anything to be gained ? Is this a silly question ?

Always willing to learn.

no silly questions , there is not a lot that can be gained with solid lifters, harley only rates it valve train at 6500rpm, if you had a bad hydraulic some one might do this instead of buying new lifters

if you were running an engine that had some wild cam that had some quick ramp up and required copious amounts of spring seat pressure then a solid would be the way to go. for the majority of us hydraulics are th best choice especially since there is no periodic adjustments required.

just to add to junior post if you have fast ramps on your cam most likely you will knock out the rollers on the lifters before anything else lets go , that has been my experiencing
