As many of you know I went to one of the many TEA parties yesterday, the one held in downtown Chattanooga . They’re called TEA party for two reasons . . first is reminiscent of the American Revolution in the 1700’s, and second is that TEA is the acronym for “TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY.” I went there to help make the statement that we, the people who work/worked for EVERYTHING we have do NOT need to see the govt taking it from us to give to the low life's who won't work and think they should be provided for through handouts . . aka entitlements. That is not what this country should be about!!!

Something that just occurred to me this morning as I was looking through my pictures . . there was not one single black face in that entire crowd of hundreds of people, and then as I watched the morning news I also saw none at ANY of the TEA parties . . nationwide. I wonder why that is . . and I’m not even prejudiced.

One thing really ticked me off this morning as I watched the local 6:00am ABC NEWS from Chattanooga . Their total coverage of HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of people gathered at the TEA Party was way less than the piece which preceded it . . coverage of a very small mom & pop pharmacy closing in Athens , TN because the guy was too old to keep it going. What is wrong with that picture??? Do you think maybe they’re a tad liberal???

I better get off this now before I get really pissed off about the sad state of affairs in what used to be OUR COUNTRY.

Some of the better signs from yesterday's TEA Party . .

Oh, now I see
CHANGE means
SOCIALISM
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The problem with Socialism
is you eventually run out of
other peoples' money
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED
TO WHAT I EARNED
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Don't spread my wealth
Spread my work ethic
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Read before you
sign anything
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You can't fix stupid but
you can vote them out
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fairness is keeping what you earn
and earning what you get
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
STOP FED-ZILLA
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HELP THE HELPLESS
NOT THE CLUELESS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Give me Liberty
Not debt
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Barney Frank
Walk the Plank
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
and lastly, from a 7 year old . .
STOP SPENDING MY FUTURE
I have no issue with the TEA parties. What I have an issue with is why didn't they start when Bush spent all our money and shipped our jobs overseas? Why are they all the sudden popular now. It is too late now.
It is somewhat hypocritical for most of those people to be protesting.
I never been to a tea party. Sometimes I drink green tea though. In fact, I just finished up a coffee so I might have a cup of green tea now. I don't care who the president is I'll drink tea when I want. Never at parties.
Art, I am with you I hate both parties. I can't say anything nice about either.
Obama has said and appears to be true to his work that most get tax breaks. So did these people protest because their rich friends have to pay more taxes? How many people who actually had their taxes raised went and protested? How did the rich get all the poorer people to go do their protesting? Good deal if you can get it.
I do agree with Wrecker the lack of coverage is curious to say the least.
The Illinois Policy Institute presents COMPASS Online
Institute CEO John Tillman spoke at yesterday’s Chicago Tax Day Tea Party, calling on thousands of attendees to make their voices heard about Governor Quinn’s proposed income tax hike. You can watch his full speech here.
Thousands Rally at Illinois Tax Day
Tea Parties
Did you make it to a Tea Party yesterday? Thousands across the state showed up to voice their concern about out-of-control spending and tax hikes. The Chicago rally featured the Institute’s John Tillman and Kristina Rasmussen, who called for citizens to take the lead in Illinois to stop Governor Quinn’s proposed tax hikes.
Want a full update, or want to get involved? Visit our Tea Party recap page here.
If you’re in the Chicago area, you can also watch John Tillman talk about the tea parties on WTTW-TV, Channel 11, tonight at 7 pm.
A Call for Real Economic Reform
In case you missed it, Institute CEO John Tillman and House Republican leader Tom Cross were featured in Tuesday’s State Journal-Register. Their message was simple: the state must move quickly for real economic reform. The op-ed outlined practical, realistic, nonpartisan opportunities for reform in Illinois. Here’s an excerpt:
Lost any friends lately? We sure have — and it’s not because of bad behavior or forgetting to send “thank you” notes. And it’s not just us. Throughout Illinois, people are losing friends, co-workers and acquaintances at record levels.
They’re losing them to other states.
During the past 10 years, more than 727,150 people left our state, ranking Illinois third in the nation in net outmigration…
We’ve put together a simple, nonpartisan plan for economic reform and later this spring we’ll offer more solutions that will put Illinois back on the road to growth, job creation and prosperity.
ART first and foremost FUCK you!! and your wanna bee ways, this is a statement no more or less.Next these have been going on for at least 6 years that I know of , it is just this year it got more organized and became a national event, which should have happened years ago, instead of hiding behind key boards, talking about how things should be or saying crap like we are all fucked , some of you folks should get out and support and participate in the many events across the nation to bring back are rights not only as bikers but as red blooded Americans that care what direction are country is headed. And before OBG jumps in, I give a rats ass who is in the capital, as fair as party affiliation! just as long as they get the job done for the citizens of america
I try not to stir up these political threads but it ain't like he's phuggin things up. I'm a Republican and I'll concede that we left him with a huge phuggin mess including a record budget deficit. So far, and its way too early, but he's doing ok. If anyone can clean up a mess left by a bunch of old rich white guys its probably this President.
Funny thing, is last week all the talk radio airheads were blaming our President for the pirate situation and saying he should go in and sacrifice the captain and blast the pirates out of the water. LOL
Then when the situation ends favorably they start complaining that this will only escalate things.
Having said that we are way overtaxed but its a bipartisan problem from having too much bureaucracy and too much government. It didn't just happen. it's one of the reasons I've been a Republican all these years but the wheels have come off the party wagon.
We need a taxpayer advocacy group that has authority to go in and audit governmental agencies and look for budget cuts. This group would issue its report to the public with a copy to the President.
Rex, I agree with you that we all should get out and do something, plus have our voices heard. But, like you said there are the keyboard jockeys that think they know it all and don't really know shit. Hell, I can find an article to support almost anything, does not mean it is the truth or right. I just don't pay them any attention, they are not worth it. Just shit stains of the world... LMFAO
I was really put off by the way Fox News appropriated the TEA protests for its own political agenda, even making it appear it was a sponsor. John Stewart did a satire piece on The Daily Show last night ridiculing Fox News and wondering why it was not voicing similar public concern during the Bush administration.
I still can't figger out what the geniuses like CoolMaker obviously thinks he is would do in lieu of taxes. Nobody like paying taxes, but what about the military? Rightwingers love the military. Where do they think the money to bomb orphanages comes from? The loved Gitmo -- who do they think paid for the barbed wire? How do the interstate highways the old farts cruise their FLH bikes up and down get built and maintained? I mean, Christ on a stick, I'm so sick of hearing the fucking rightwingers bitch about shit their own stupid asses couldn't live without! Thank God we got a reprieve from the sorry fucks for a few years at least until the next otherwise good man sticks his goddamn dick in the wrong hole again. :angry:
P.S. I'm glad this thread isn't political. ^_^
This is why Fox is consistantly #1 in cable news. Being fair and Balanced. Neil Cavuto from Fox Bussiness News was against the Bailouts back in September when Paulsen, Bushes treasury secretary pushed the original 750 billion tarp bail out.
Your right though SS. Concern should have been raised over the deficits even before the Democrats took over as the Majority in 2006.
People like me that have never seen such enormous spending and raising the national debt, Not to mention the individual states raising their taxes ,as they are legally bound, to balance their budgets and President campaign promise to lower the taxes on 95% of the workers, which ammounts to roughly $400.00 dollars a year on average, will pale in 2011 when the new federal taxes start to take effect. The fact that this run away spending can not be sustained (Congressional Budget Office) and the fact that our children and grand children are going to be paying for this is a legacy that I and many others do not want to leave.
See ya all on July fouth. Maybe the main stream media will cover that one as I'm sure the numbers will be much larger.
