View Full Version : Smokin' !!!!

Got me a new smoker. Been smokin' up a storm: pulled pork, beef brisket, baby back ribs, Copper River salmon, whole chicken, chicken wings, chicken every which way, a million kinds of sausage, steak, pork chops, cheese, shrimp, bacon wrapped meatballs, bacon wrapped anything, jalapeno peppers, vegetables, you name it. And it's easy, too. Set the temperature, stick the food in, pop in the temperature probe, put in a chunk of wood, close the door, turn it on, and when the bell goes off, you're eatin' !! Suddenly I have a whole lot of new friends ;)

What kind of smoker? What kind of wood?

I love to smoke. The salmon is excellent.

I have a Cookshack SM025. It's a small one, but it's just me and the wife (and about 1000 new friends ;)) I have several kinds of wood for it: hickory, mesquite, apple, cherry, and alder (for the salmon). I also have one of those remote temperature probes, so I can just set it and forget it until the bell rings and my mouth starts watering like Pavlov's dogs.;)

I smoke the hell out of food on the bbq too.
As a matter of fact I smoke the hell out of a lot of stuff. :shocking_gif:

I have the Masterbuilt. The smaller cheaper one. I like it a ton. So you use all kinds of wood. I am a mesquite guy but tried hickory recently and liked it. Interesting.

I will have to look up the Cookshack SM025. I started singing the love shack song though.

Smoking a pork butt today, a 7-pounder. Rubbed it last night and put it in the fridge overnight. Got up early and put it on at 6 AM. It'll take between 9 and 12 hours total. I smoked two butts last weekend to take to a party. Waited until I got there to pull 'em. A drooling audience formed right away. The steam and smell permeated the air. Once I set it out, it was gone in 15 minutes. I barely got a chance to snag some for myself.:wohow:

I stopped at the liquor store yesterday and see that Sam Adams beer is raffling off a smoker. Don't know what kind.

Wow! Those mentioned made me feel really hungry. Actually, I'm craving for it though. But, my fave smoked food is the baby back ribs. Perhaps, I'll be trying some later. And here's some new tips that I gathered around the web: How to make BBQ Ribs (http://www.artofmanliness.com/2013/05/17/how-to-make-smoked-bbq-ribs).
