Whats up fellas?
I'm taking her in wed to get my accessories put on
and I also want them to see why my girl is hard starting when warmed up.
Maybe you guys can give me some advice. It starts right up when cold
with choke on.Sometimes when warmed up it will stall at a light or stop
sign. And all the time when I go to start her up after shes warm it will
turn over but wont start right away.Sometimes it will back fire. The
dealership said to giver her a couple blips of gas before hitting starter
button.I tried that and that doesnt start her either. The only way it
starts is if I hold gas open and push button to start. Also yesterday
when I was comming to light I down shifted to 3rd and she backfired
and stalled. It only has 200 mles on her I hope its nothing serious.
Thanks in advance,Bikerdude

The only way it starts is if I hold gas open and push button to start.

Which indicates that the fuel mixture is way too rich. Have your dealer jet the bike properly, or do it yourself.

Is this a carb or EFI?

Another thing I'm wondering, is what do your plugs look like.... They will tell you if your too rich, especially if you cut off your bike with the engine stop switch. Take out one of your plugs, there should not be any black soot on the plug.

This is how my carb sportster starts on a hot engine. Even the manual says to do it this way. If not it starts weak.
