My buddy has a '73 super glide. His speedo cable is messed up and he says he can't get the old cable out of the hub(?) Local stealer's no help and he said theres nothing in the manual. Any ideas???

Spray some WD-40 in there then give it a try

Otherwize time for a new one

Wish I had a better answer, I seem to destroy speedos myself :(

pb blaster is about the best spray lubercant i can think of

hub? ain't it driven off the trans? if so, he might just pull the retainer bolt and clip, then pop out the adapter and work on it on a bench....

I haven't seen my buddy's cable, but he said it was the same type as is on my '86 sporty. That would be on the front wheel.

Man I know right where your bud is on the cable thing. Those early model cables just pushed onto the drive unit and when they corrode they can be almost impossible to pull off.

Like the guys said try some lube and maybe some gentle heat.

If he screws up the drive they are not very expensive (but money is money).
