is the first 1000 mile service check-up covered under the warrenty or will it cost me ?

You might want to check on your sales slip. It's the norm for most of the dealers in my area to include the 1000 mile service in the cost of the bike. It may be the same where you live...then again, it might not be. :)

Mine charges for it.
I need to have it done myself, but I actually missed it. The Canada trip put me well over the 1000 mile, like aroun 1800....oopsy.

BB...your kiddin' right? Please tell us you've at least changed the oil.

If not, you seriously need to get it changed...like yesterday. :)
I'm sure one of your local ridin' partners would lend a hand if need be.
I would.

My 1K and 5K services were included in my bike sale. HD sent me coupons.
Previous bike was the same. I do my own servicing after the 5K however.

Check with your dealer Righteous.

Nope, not kidding.
I only had about 350 miles before I left for Canada. I didn't think I would be putting so many miles on her.
She goes in next Thursday for service.
BTW, my riding partners are away on vacation. :(

i had to pay for my services...
i guess now is when i start seeing how buying at cheaper dealer may not be cheaper in the end...

i remember almost immediately after buying the bike i had to go get the 1000 mile service (within the first month) and that set me back somewhere around $280, then i just had the 5000 mile service done and they would have charged me the same but i had some warranty work done as well after talking to the Harley Rep and he cut it down 50% for me...
but they stuck in regular oil instead of the syn3 i started using at 1000 miles, so now i was told to get another service/oil change at 7500miles (either dino or syn3) and then another one at 10000 mile service...

jeez...
whattaya think...i ain't made o money!!

HArley has new service intervals. The newer Syn3 oil, and customer feedback prompted the changes. Check with your service department, if they don't seem to know anything, they are either lying, or they don't keep up.

I believe it's 1K, then every 5K after that.

yeah i think the guy told me 7500 and then 10000 just to get back on the normal schedule...
he said if you use regular oil, do it every 2500 miles, if syn3, every 5000.
