Did you ever figure out if/how you could switch that tank? I know this is an old thread, but I just recently found this great site.
I've got an '05 FXD, and I'm interested in switching my tank to get the speedo and ignition onto the console.
I hope you had luck, because I'd love to hear how it went!

The tanks should work as the difference is in the rake on the frame. Wideglide tank is 5 gal vs 3.5 on the lowrider/superglide. I'm not sure about the recent years but softtail was unique in their parts. If you own a 06 Dyna shop manual, it will show you how to wire up the new gauges (use the lowrider schematic). Hope this helps

NY90, you get that tank set up? I only saw this when I was looking for some other info. Seems to me that it should be an almost painless swap. Not talking from experience, but my '06 FXD35 Superglide came with everything on the tank like you want it.
