been admiring the VRSC's lately. im confused over the power of these bikes. the V-Rod is the most expensive but only 115 hp. the night rod and street rod are both cheaper and have 5 more hp. where are these bikes making the extra 5 hp, and why the base model at a higher price???
cheers

Different exhaust & cost to build, 5 hp is nothing
I changed the title to represent the topic & moved it to the v-rod forum

You wont see 115 on a stock vrod anyway...not on a dyno...I have read sheet after sheet and see 106-112 even with mods....
This is not to say you cant make more (have seen 165's) but basic setup....110 or so average I have seen
The factory numbers are inflated. Most stock v-rods run about 102/105 hp at the rear wheel on a dyno. Pipes,a programmable fuel injection box and a high flow aircleaner will put you in the 115 range.
The real change is that hp can be made to come on strong at a much lower rpm when tuned properly. On my personal bike with pipes a pcIII and openlid airbox,i started with 82hp at 3200rpm and 112.7hp max before tuning the injection progam. After tuning ran 102hp at 3200rpm with a max of 113.9 A nice seat of the pants increase in acceleration.
Max torque really did not change much started with 76# and end up with 78#. I'm just pulling these numbers out of my head so they may vary slightly from what i posted before..i don't have the actual run sheet in front of me.
