06 Dyna - EPA question Drilling out baffles

I just got the bike titled and licensed today and I already have a question. How many ways are there around the O2 sensor thing without adding the race tuner? I want a louder sound (stock pipes) but dont have the resources right now to go too crazy pipes and computers. Any suggestions?

You can drill out the stock baffles untill you get the sound you like.

Sounds great, and had actually thought of that myself. However is there anyone that has posted or found a step by step for drilling? Pics would help too cause I really dont want to screw this up.

and will that affect the ECM settings?

Re: 06 Dyna - EPA question Drilling out the Baffles

I have no idea exactly what the 06's mufflers look like

If they are like the old one you just need a 1' long drill to go through both ends of the baffle.

Just go with holes untill you get the sound you like.

The ECM already runs lean from the factory & has room left to "adjust" itself to run ok with a minor thing like this. It should be fine.

I added to the title of the topic to get more hits from those that may have done it.

Re: 06 Dyna - EPA question

I have done it on a Honda VTR 1000 twin.

Just started at 12 o'clock, then six, then 3 then 9, then 1 etc. Worked really well.

Imagine a bolt torque pattern in your head and drill grasshopper.
    What could possibly go wrong?

Re: 06 Dyna - EPA question

I was going nuts waiting for pipes on my '06 Dna.
I took off the slips and, using a cuttoff saw, cut around the coned area just behind the weld. I pulled out the baffle, smoothed out the roughness and when I hit the throttle, the packing blew right out.

I have installed pythons by V & H. They sound good and retain the O2 sensors.

Oh, another way to remove the baffle is to use a metal hole saw.

did you have to go with the race tuner when you switched to the V&H?

I did the remap, as per the suggestion of the dealer. I just want to keep my warrranty in effect. I will be installing the Power Commander soon though.
When I can, I'll be doing the motor. Heads, 50mm throttle body, pistons, injectors, cams......damn, this is gonna cost me!
