If drilling out the baffle, will this cause any issues with the warranty? I have an 07 RKC and would like to do the same but just a hesitant on warranty issues. Also, would I have to do anything else in regards to EFI or O2 sensors?
Thanks...
I knocked the plugs out on my 03 RK and hated the sound. It rapped like a Red Neck truck. Dont get me wrong, I am not Knocking Red Necks, I am a Red Neck, I just dont want my HD to sound like a Red Neck truck. I also tried knocking out just the end plugs and it wasnt to bad, probably could not tell much of a difference from stock. I now have a set of Sreaming Eagle Slip-On's and I like that sound. I might still try knocking out just the inside plugs of another stock set and leaving the outer plugs and see what kind of sound that makes. Good luck with it, and BTW, I just took a long 1/2" drive extension and smacked it a couple times and went right through, did not mess the structure inside or nothing, just bent the plug sideways into the muffler.

Well there is always that option, but it strays a bit from your original question. :POriginally Posted by rdnekguy

I have an 05 fxdwg that I bought used and it had some loud ass pipes and I managed to get some 06 pipes for it.
The new pipes had oxygen sensor holes which I plugged, the local muffler man had some plugs that fit perfect.
But the pipes I cut out the baffles completely with a 17/8" (I think)hole saw(it sounds really good, not too loud but a deep throaty rumble(I have had several compliments)).
I took off the mufflers(unbolt a couple of screws and clamps) and I made a jig from a 2x4 about 2' long and a 1x4 about 8" long I drilled two holes in the 2x4 (for the mounting bolts)and got 2- 3" blots with nuts and put the heads in the mounting slots on the pipes and ran them through the 2x4, slid the pipe end even with the 2x4 and tightened it down.
I took the 1x4 and cut a hole through it with the hole saw and lined it up with the muffler exhaust baffle and screwed it down so that the hole lines up with end of the muffler.
I then got some oil, to keep the bit from over heating and cut through the weld(the 1x4 with the hole is your guide, you can do it with the pipes on the bike, but it is a pain in the ass keeping the saw from jumping around), once you cut through, tamp the muffler on its end and the baffle should come out. Then replace and ride.
It still has a screen on the inside of the pipe that creates some back pressure so its not like drag pipes and it looks stock, sounds good and your out less than $20.00. Tune like you would slip ons, I have a V@H fuelpack and an arlen ness big sucker, I set the fuel pack like I had V@H slipons and it runs great.
