Oh ya, I won't forget to tell the dyno guy to put some emphasis on fuel efficancy.![]()
I almost cut my hair, it happened just the other day.
It was gettin' kinda long, I could've said it was in my way.
But I didn't and I wonder why, I feel like letting my freak flag fly
Well, the results are in. I did a 95" and SE203 cams. Changed my transmission pulley to a 33 tooth which lowered my RPM 3%.
My mileage is the same as it always was. I get 40 mpg when riding the speed limit. And 35 mpg when I ride 90 mph.
Although, I didn't increase the mileage, I made my bike a hell of a lot more enjoyable/fun to ride, and I still get the same mileage as a stock bike.
When I rode with Wide to Canada, he had a stock rental and every time we filled up, we were within a couple of tenths of a gallon of each other.
Sometimes I'd even get better mileage than him.![]()

It's not magic. You already know that if you drive 60 you get better mileage than if you drive 70, let alone the 80 you're at!
So, drive 70 or 80 and get good gas mileage by slowing the engine down with a different front transmission pulley. There is a 32 tooth Sportster pulley available on Ebay. You don't have to change the rear pulley or the belt (at least I didn't have to on my 2005). I got 57 mpg consistently when I rode between 60 & 65 with the stock 28 x 68. With the 32 tooth I get 62 mpg at 70! No BS. And, I've paid my taxes, my 883 has a 48 and a 170, runs great, no farts, warms up fast.
