I am getting ready for the 95'' and have the SE 203 cams in hand. But I am thinking about the S&S 570G gear drives. My mechanic is a real fan of them, but they seem pretty big. I am a 2006 Night Train EFI, single rider around town, and the occasional weekend trip. I am just a big fan of big power and always looking for more.
As far as tunning, I am really considering the Dayton Twin Tec with the new dual O2 sensor setup, or maybe just doing the PCIII with custom MAP.
I am new to all of this EFI, and cams for the 88, so any opinions would be appreciated.
IMO, throw out the 203's and spring for a gear drive. I tell that to anyone who plans on keeping a bike and racking up the mile and especially tell it to someone who doesn't work on bikes themselves. With that said, the 570's are not bolt-in cams. You are gonna have to at least change your valve springs to run them. You will likely have to do some headwork to take full advantage of a set of 570's. Do you plan on doing any headwork? If not, you may want to consider a lower lift set of cams.
Would the 570's be a good choice for stock heads for now? I am thinking about porting, but it is later down the road. And I am reading that they will work with stock springs too. (I believe I read that from the S&S website.)
There are better cams for stock heads, IMO. In the S&S line, the 510's would be better. In Andrews, the 26's. Go back and check the S&S site, you will see that the only "bolt-in" cam that they have to use with stock springs is the 510's.Originally Posted by ssfirefighter
So with the 570's would I just need the pushrods, and springs? And how would it perform untill the head port?
503g's is what my mech suggested good all round he said![]()

The may be fine if he were riding an EVO.Originally Posted by FATBACK
You don't need adjustable pushrods since you are pulling the heads to put in springs. I have no clue how the cams will perform without a port job. However, the general rule of cam selection is read the literature, pick out the cam that you think you need, and then get the next size down.Originally Posted by ssfirefighter

Never heard of a 503 TC cam. S&S makes a 510. HD makes a 203.Originally Posted by FATBACK
