Cool, so you are saying these will work with the Garmin Quest?Originally Posted by dcom
Yes, they'll work just fine. The Quest is the main one I use on the bike. Use MapSource to open the GDB file(s) then transfer them to the Quest. You can't load all 800+ points from the main GDB file, but you can load each state individually until you reach the Quest's limit of 500 total points.Originally Posted by JD
The Rand McNally/Harley-Davidson Ride Atlas has all the dealers with their latitude and longitude locations as well as their physical addresses.
How does Harley load all the dealer locations into the GPS units that they sell? (Garmin Quest I believe)
I didn't know that about the atlas, I may have to pick one up. I don't think Harley loads the locations, I think Garmin probably does. They have all kinds of resources for loading location data into their units or creating map data out of them so it's probably pretty easy for them.Originally Posted by 41LoRider
dcom, finally got around to installing these and figured out how to transfer them to the unit, and it worked great. Thanks for taking the time to make these files!
PS how do I add the HD logo and link it to the waypoints? I can't figure that out and have read the directions and downloaded the software from the Garmin website.
Glad you like using it.Originally Posted by JD
To get the custom logo images to show up, you need to copy the file called 008.bmp into the My Garmin\Custom Waypoint Symbols folder in your My Documents folder. If you only have the default set of symbols, there should be 001.bmp to 007.bmp in the Custom Waypoint Symbol folder. The waypoints look for 008.bmp as their icon so all you need to do is add that file to the Custom Waypoint Symbol folder.
To get them to show up in the Quest (not the Quest II), you use the xImage.exe program and tell it to load the Waypoint Symbol 008.bmp file. This is basically the same file as 008.bmp above, but xImage expects it to be named Waypoint Symbol 008.bmp instead of 008.bmp which is why there are 2 different files.
The Readme.txt file that came in the Dealer ZIP file has instructions on setting up the custom icon.
