    Front motor mount

I have heard that some handling problems can occure when the front mount goes bad.
I'm not sure how to tell when its bad though.
The bike is an 04 and has almost 23k on it.
How do I tell if its bad, and do they make a urathane one for it?
And where do I get one if they do?
    Thanks

Visual inspect for rips in the rubber around the center of the mount, both sides (top and bottom). A light and inspection mirror is all you need.

I have a post somewhere here of one I removed that was just starting to tear through, you can probably find it if you do a search.

Yes, there is a H-D updated mount and aftermarket urethane replacements available through vendors like J&P Cycles and Dennis Kirk.

    Re: Front motor mount

to get a good view of the front mount you will have to remove the voltege regulator , also needed if you plan on replaceing it , also the new mount will not look like the old one they have changed it a little , and it is not marked top and bottom like the old one was , so ask your dealer to show you the motor side before you leave the dealership

    Re: Front motor mount

Just read about the new mount Harley has. Some people who have installed it say it is harsh. I would look at the Velva Ride. Had one years ago on my 93 & it was much better than the stock.

    Re: Front motor mount

yea, I replaced mine alittle while ago. The bike was shaking at speed. but I busted it the whole way though doing aburnout at the clubhouse.

THe mechanic told me you can get other mounts, but they are not worth the $.
So i put plain old rubber back in.

    Re: Front motor mount

The thing that alerted me to the front mount being bad was a metallic vibrating noise coming from down low in front when coming to a stop. The rubber had deteriorated to the point where there was no visible gap at the top of the mount.
I knew all along now that I'd never fit in,at backyard get togethers, with their tonic & gin ...
