    Hesitation off idle

Just got my 95 build done and while ive only been able to ride it twice now (very cold here) ive noticed a slight hesitation from off idle. ive only got 50 miles on it since the build and it idles fine and seems to run fine it definitley has a slight stumble from takeoff. just wondering if this is normal or should i have it looked at. it also takes longer to warm up as the original engine i could start up and let idle for a few seconds and it would run fine as this one seems to run rough for a few minutes untill it fully warms up.

Just drive it a bit then after it's broken in get it set up on a dyno. You can do a normal tune up, look at the plugs & adjust accordingly but the dyno is spot on

Very common for this to happen, mixture or timing is a bit off not to worry.

    Hope this helps

Like Wide sez, but if you know how to tune and read the plugz, why not. If it were mine It would be hard to follow my own advice, in fact I read the plugs at 13 miles on my current build and changed the intermediate jet. I then changed that jet three more times during the first 500 miles. I hit the dyno at 1200 miles and realized we were way to lean on the main jet/ intermediate jets. We wound up with the same intermediate jet we had in at 13 miles (The first one I pulled out)

The bottom line is you now have a new machine that needs to break in first. You will be chasing your tail tuning her before the rings seat.

Just get her broke in first. Tune it spot on later.

Softail hit it right on the money. I just want ot add that it is cold where you are right now. Wait a little while and let the weather warm up and then see what she does. I bet the carb was not set up for the cold and that might be the casue of the stumble. Just a thought.

    Just kidding man

Really, just let it break in then have it dyno tuned and let them build you a new MAP for the efi and you'll be rocking.

However if your bike starts to ping from running too lean get it done earlier.

    Re: Hesitation off idle

I have the same problem on an 07 roadglide with a built 103", but I have a couple thousand on it and been back on the dyno, my builder says he didnt notice anything but made some fuel adjustments. It is a lot less noticable but I know its there especially when I take off while turning with the bike leaning, thats a bad time to have the engine stumble. Im afraid someday I may end up dropping the bike. I want to follow this post for more info.
