Ok, I *may* need to replace neck bearings in my softail custom, 1997. Do I need a race puller from HD or has someone out there created something that would work. I replaced these damn things about two years ago and apparently the races were NOT changed with the bearings, and well you know the outcome, I now have to do it again....
Thanks,

the only way that i have ever done that is to take my mig and run a 1"-2" bead around the middle of the race. as the metal cools, it shrinks and can be easily popped out....

Thanks Junior, I remember when a buddy did his, he was trying like hell to get those out, I think he took a dremel and cut little peices out and finally it popped out - I don't think I am going to screw with it - I am getting a thump from the front end and I just keep remembering the process about those bearings, since they are not that old I wouldn't think it would be them, I was just preparing for the worseWhen I jack the bike up, there is no unusual play so I am hoping it is the "normal" wide glide noises....that everyone seems to complain about. I will check some things.
Thanks again,
elliott
