    CVO air filters

Don't all CVO bikes come with the SE or stage 1 high flow air filter and housing, that everyone seems to recommend? My 2007 SERK has the open housing with a paper element. Other than switching the element to a K@N, what else is available from HD? I don't want to change the cover. I would assume CVO's had the best from the get go, that's why I bought one.

Yes and no. A CVO still has to meet EPA requirements. You have something between stock and Stage 1. It's a free breathing stock config. Dump it. Unless of course you work for the EPA. In that case, I'm full of shit and you better leave it alone. :P

You fall into the same category as a stock bike if you want to change any component of your intake or exhaust. Make your changes wisely and use a new fuel/ignition manager. I use a SERT but anything is better than nothing.

You didn't get ripped off. A bone stock '07 CVO will kick the shit out of a bone stock TC96. But that's where the comparison ends.

Kagan, I assume I just dump the element, right?

No. It's a full step to the Screamin' Eagle Stage I air cleaner.

I just found out that my serk does have the high flow air filter housing, it's the ultra classic SE's that have the enclosed housing. A filter swap to a K@N is all I need. Thanks for the replies.

You are correct about the SE Ultras. When stock, they have the same A/C as any other Ultra. I had to put an SE A/C on mine. I let the kids down the road use the air filter as a hockey puck, since it is a cheap piece of shit, and put an HD-0800 air filter on it. All the SERKs, SEFBs, SEDs, SESs I've seen have a stock backplate, which will readily accept a K&N filter, but first you gotta get that cheap piece of shit paper element off the machine and kick it as far down the road as you can.
