    Re: More Torque!

Bagger, it seems kind of ballsy to be tearing into a 06 SE. Did you buy that bike new?
    Amusing thread by the way.

I almost cut my hair, it happened just the other day.
It was gettin' kinda long, I could've said it was in my way.
But I didn't and I wonder why, I feel like letting my freak flag fly

I don't know if I'd call it "ballsy." That term pretty much fits the entire lot of us, therefore the descriptor would be redundant in this scenario.
Perhaps it would be better to call it...."sick and friggin' tired of wonderin' when I'm gonna have another cam chain tensioner failure like I did on the 02 Ultra," or consider ....."this guy is addicted to torque......and like a drug.......with each dosing, he has to have more, and the current setup just wasn't cutting it," or maybe even......"these SE bikes REALLY aren't all they're hyped up to be as far as reliability and performance are concerned, so I'm making it what it should have been before it left the York facility."
No, I did not buy it new. It had a little over 700 miles on it when I bought it. Bought it from a guy in Tennessee that buys a new SE every year.
    Amusing? How so?
Additionally, some other things are changing. Vance and Hines Dresser Duals going into Rush 2.25" slip ons, Power Commander and a custom tune after break-in.
To be quite honest, the bike was plenty quick before I did this. My main reason for doing the upgrade is because I don't want to worry about the cam chains anymore..........and while I'm in there, well, you know, might as well go ahead and do some other mods as well. I've crossed this Great Nation from east to west twice this summer, plus I did Rolling Thunder and several trips to Panama City. Just tired of worrying about reliving a previous cam chain tensioner failure, and I want to get that worry out of my head.
Should be complete by the end of the month. Wife and I are headed to Talladega on 5 October, and on 8 October we're rolling to Maggie Valley until 14 October. Should be good enough to get it broke in. Then I'll switch to AMSOIL and get it properly tuned. We'll see how it goes.
Underneath all the pretty stuff...........it is still a Harley.

Amusing because you don't see someone tearing apart their close to new $30,000 motorcycle. Nothing wrong with it and you are going the extra mile to be sure everything works out right.

Have you ever rebuilt the top end of a motor before?

I know plenty of folks who have done, and are doing, way more than I'm having done to their CVO........some fresh out of the crate, some within a few miles of new.

I've never rebuilt the top end of a motor before. That's why this is being done for me. Builder sends pictures as he progresses.

    Re: More Torque!

I've done top ends and bottom ends of volkswagons. I've learned from my mistakes too. Seazing a crank in a volkswagon cost me about $500. I'm a little hesitant to dig into a Harley.

I like you, pay someone that has done it 100s of times before. It's much cheaper.

Yessir.........that it is...........and since I have to manage my time with MS Project, there's one less thing to worry about.

Did you forget about me and my brother?
Never fight with a fool, others may not be able to tell the two of you apart.
