Got an Ultra Classic and I always get stuck at these damn auto sensing/auto tripping traffic lights. I understand all about the feild that needs to be disrupted by the vehicle to make the lights go to green. i also know that some states have a "3 cycle" rule on going through the light after 3 cycles. With the way alot of cagers are on the street, and with the way some cops like to harass and now TASER people for no appearent reason, i would like to avoid doing anything that would give some one carring a badge or a cager an excuse to hit me or taser me.
So, my questions are: Does putting strond magnets on the bottom of the bike ACTUALLY help trip the traffic lights? Do any of you brothers or sisters out there have magnets on your scoot.....and of so....do you notice any diffferances with traffic lights?

I know one guy back east that swears they work but can not confirm his allegations ( I think he likes Styx).

I put one on my bike a coupla years ago.I think it was called Signal Sorcerer,$20.00.It doesnt work 100% of the time nor does it claim to.But it works alotta the time & well worth the $20.00.

From everything Ive heard tell, they work. You also need to complain to your local DOT office. Here in Oregon they are installing cameras above the lights to notice all motion, and eliminating loops...Yeaaahh!!!
Oh, also here in Oregon but I dont know where else so check your local cop shop, motorcycles are allowed to go on red only after they have stopped, the light doesnt change, and traffic allows it.

I was told the sensors work basically like a "big metal detector". THe magnet things work in certain areas, or so I'm told. I just wait about a minute and go on red when traffic clears. Actually a buddy of mine got pulled over doing this. When he explained to the cop how the sensor doesn't pick up the bike, the cop let him go. Once I heard that I really don't think twice about doing it.
And some cops will sit and watch from a distance just waiting for someone to go on red. I emailed my state DMV about it. Their answer? "You have to wait for the light to change". It didn't seem to matter to them that it WOULDN'T change.
