Y'all women can appricate this better then them old dam men in pig roast lol
One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live.
They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.
On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, "How was the trip?"
"It was great, Dad."
"Did you see how poor people live?" the father asked.
"Oh yeah," said the son.
"So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?" asked the father.
The son answered:
"I saw that we have one dog and they had four.
We have a pool and they have a creek that has no end.
We have lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night
Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.
We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.
We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.
We buy our food, but they grow theirs.
We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them."
The boy's father was speechless.
Then his son added, "Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are."
Isn't perspective a wonderful thing? Makes you wonder what would happen if we all gave thanks for everything we have, instead of worrying about what we don't have.
Righteous, that was beautiful. That's what we try to teach Brian's 16yo daughter, but she's caught up in the "reality" she sees in the TV shows like "The OC". In this generation, the wisdom that son showed was the exception, although I'd love to think otherwise.
We've taken her to benefits, shown her how little others have compared to us, tried to instill community values - but with all the messages that the media, and her classmates give, it doesn't seem to get through....![]()
Sorry! Just nosin' around but that was excellent. I better get outa here before the women beat me up!LOL

seen THIS BEFORE , BUT STILL A GOOD READ , NOW IF WE COULD JUST GET THE YOUNG FOLKS TO LOOK AT LIFE THAT WAY seems now a days the parents are as with all generation trying to give there kids more then what they had as a kid , but what ends up happing most of the time is it comes to easy for the kids , and they expect life to be that way
Bucket list are for Sissie, men do it while they can enjoy it
Good read. Sorry for lurking in the lounge. Reminds me of what my wifef told me this morning.
Last night as my youngest daughter was getting ready for bed she turned to my wife and said "Mommy you know every day we walk in Gods footsteps". My wife asked her where she heard that and she said "I didn't I just thought of that"
Kid is only 5 years old, I think there is still hope for the next generation.
