    09 TUNING INFO........MAYBE

I stopped by my local dealer yesterday to shoot the breeze as I do 3 or 4 times a week.......

The service manager tells me that they dynoed a couple 09 touring bikes that had the SE stage 1 air cleaner and slip ons installed........one was Rineharts the other was Rush.

BOTH BIKES HAD NO TUNER INSTALLED........ The A/F mixture was perfect at all RPM'S!!!!

    Ready????

I was told there is no need for a tuner and they were not going to "push" the Super tuner or and thing else for that matter because it wasnt needed.....

    Anybody else here this???
Its a dog eat dog world and I'm wearin milkbone underware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

from past experience with harley, I would have to say B S harley has a hard time to meet EPA standards each and every year, so why would this year be different, besides harley is not going to miss the chance to sell goody add-on to the bike tuners and dyno time are very big bucks to them

Hey, not to bash another dealer professional but I'm sceptical. For this to be true, it would have had to be utilizing a learning ECM and I'm not aware that H-D has gone to that step.

    I'll investigate.

There has to be more to his story. The 2008 Touring ECM was 34246-08. The 2009 ECM is 34246-08A.

Sure, the designator indicates an upgrade but sweet Jesus, if H-D had incorporated a learning ECM into their line-up more than one Dyno operator would know.

Also, AFR is only one element of a tuning. The ECM controls EVERYTHING. Cold and hot idle, ambient temp effects and load characteristics. It's beyond me how someone could claim that a stock ECM can learn within its parameters using either the Rinehart or Rush slip-on. Both are a peformance pipe and require tuning according to bothe the slip-on manufacturers AND the MoCo.

In the words of Penn & Teller, I'm calling bullshit.

First there is no way the AFR is "Perfect" unless they abolished the EPA since last year.

The New ECM has a few different features with the electronic throttle and I suspect that would be -08A reason.

    I agree with Kegan, BS.

I have had a set of HD Touring Muffs 65259-00 fitter to my 09 Roadking Classic for 6 months without any problem. I then decided to put a SE Stage 1 filter kit on the bike pinked like hell. The temp in our country at the moment is 20 degrees so not hot at all.
I have had to fit a V&H Fuelpack to solve the problem.
Me thinks someone is telling toy porkies.
