I just bought one of these http://www.millerwelds.com/products/tig/maxstar_200/ for my shop and its amazing the punch they are packing into these small units! I got it mainly for welding alumium which it is one of the smoothest running machines I have ever used and it weighs in at a whopping 37 pounds. Not to mention all of these new machines are auto ranging from 240 volt single phase to 480 three phase. Its a little scary as when you look in side of one of these new units it looks more like a home computer than a welder as its all circut boards with no transformers and such as used to be found in them. But Miller gives them a full three year parts and labor warranty which made me feel better about buying them.
I am kicking myself as just a year ago I bought one of the small lincoln plasma cutters it works well but for the money I would much rather had one of these Miller units.
Don't be afraid to try new things
