Two riders lost in Eastern NC

Two riders were killed and several injured when a truck crossed the center line and hit a group of 8 bikes head-on. The 32 year old driver was charged with DUI and Felony death.

Please keep Chuck Poe and Wayne Whitley of the Frog Level MC and their families in your prayers.

Sad. One moment it's bliss, next moment it's shear terror.

Lately, a week hasn't gone by without at least one motorcycle fatality in our area. It's got me a little jumpy.

Sometimes it's the motorcyclist fault, and others, like this one, it's someone else who shouldn't even be on the road.

Last night our club was on ride after dinner -- a pack of twenty bikes blasting down a shoulder-less back road in total darkness -- when from out of nowhere, a bucket comes flying at us from off the back of an on-coming pick-up truck.

Bikes swerving and dodging in all directions at once.

We were lucky that no one lost it, and that everyone was alert and on their game. It could just as easily gone the other way with the evening ending in tragedy.

RIP Charles and Lenwood. Prayers to the family and friends.

You just never know when something bad is going to happen and the best you can hope for is to get an extra second to react and take counter measures.

Deepest sympathies to the families of the riders.

    bad way to go

sometimes when I'm leading a group I think about the oncoming cars and wonder if any of them are drunk or distracted. I don't think you'd have a chance. I always put the thought out of my head. A couple weeks ago some young dude on a harley in the oncoming lane, pulled out and passed a car by crossing the double yellow into our lane. I think he misjudged cuz he had this funny lookin "oh shit" expression on his face as he tried to finish his pass and tuck back in as we were closing fast. LOL I coulda reached out and tapped him on the shoulder.
