    Paint Pricing

Because of the way the rich people have handled the cash situation in the US The cost of Paint Materials in the last 5 months have hit a all new HigH! So dont have that sticker shock look on your face while you price around for a good painter. Simply House of Color is at $100.00 per quart right now. And a simple roll of 3/4" tape (that would be the good tape not that crap fron Ace Hardware) is at an astounding $3.85 per roll, Clear coat will now cost you about a $100.00 per quart along with the activators. I Think the US is slowly putting "Everything" out of reach! For Everyone

    Re: Paint Pricing

look for this in everything- food, materials....it is part of the recession cycle. pre-recession we had dozens, if not hundreds of manufacturers and distributors of saleable goods. this was good for trade as this promoted competion in sales. when the recession hit we lost a lot of low, mid and even some high level manufacturing. while demand has somnewhat lessened, the supply is at very low levels. perhaps even more devastating is the nearly all time low value of the dollar in the world marketplace.

    inflation.

i've got a $12m property renovation going on right now that is under budget (temporarily) due to the lower cost of materials and trade labor. we are already tracking measureable increases in lumber, ro (bituminous/petroleum) and other goods. even though automotive paint is a specific material, it is still affected by the whole cycle.

    bummer.

    Re: Paint Pricing

Just amazing Spig!! Even when I was in the trade back in the late seventies and early eighties ordinary people couldn't understand paint and material costs. To see quality 3/4" masking tape at $3.85 a roll is absolutely ridiculous along with the other paint and associated thinners and activator cost. If I remember there is also a hazardous waste charge that probably more also.

    Re: Paint Pricing

Well lets shock everyone. I just painted my bike using PPG vibrance collection 24K One quart set me back almost 700.00. Ready for another shock. Just finished a auto damage claim on a vet that had been painted with chromalusion, 3 quarts 2700.00 not counting activators and other shit. (oh that was without a mark up to the insurance company.

paint price and materials have been up for years, why do you think it cost so much for paint jobs
anyway go down to the hard wear store and get some raddled cans of crylon spray paint , but those are even 4.95 a can, and remember cheap material will give you a cheap PAINT JOB lol
Bucket list are for Sissie, men do it while they can enjoy it
