I used an AC Delco PF53 oil filter (around 4 dollars at Autozone) on my last two oil changes. I've also successfully used the STP 3614, for what it's worth.
Here is a copy of my used oil analysis, where I used Havoline 20W50 regular car engine oil, with the most recent SM rating. The heavier oils, such as the 10W40 and 20W50 still have plenty of zinc and phosphorous in them, which is vital to keeping down the cam lobe wear in these engines.
My bike shears the oil down to a 40 weight pretty regularly. It's probably the gear driven cam, whereas gears gnashing together tend to shear oil down. But even as a 40 weight the Havoline did great. Previous oils shown in this UOA (used oil analysis) were Chevron Supreme 20W50, (this one with an STP 3614 filter), then Valvoline VR1 (2 qts 20W50, 1 qt straight 60 weight), then the two to the extreme right are Havoline 20W50 again, of an earlier formula (SL rated).

I used to do the spectrochemical tests quite often

Ha! That is the size I use on my car, I have a bunch of them in the garage right now.
Here is a page where I did a run with the STP 3614 (It's "S3614" actually)...

I cut it apart after the oil analysis, for a look inside. (see photos in linked thread)... They are well made filters, presumably made by Champion Labs (not affiliated with Champion spark plugs). Champion Labs makes the Harley Davidson filters also, for what that's worth.
The UOA looked good, so the filter did a good job.
