On my 2005 FLHTI as we all know, the check engine light illuminates, and the fuel injector starts humming while it pumps gas, when you hit the ON button. It last for about 3 to 4 seconds and then you are supposed to fire it up.
Now I have noticed that it coming on for little longer, fuel pump not humming. So it goes off, and then like 5 seconds later comes back on. Stays on for 5 to 10 seconds and gone. I ride her 47 miles to work, she runs good, mileage hasn't changed and she seems fine.
The question is? Does Harleys computer send out a message to the Check Engine light like my truck does when "the manufacturer" set's it to? This all happened when I rolled over 30,000 miles. Coincidence?
Can my mechanic, during state inspection, reset the auto check engine light, if this exists?

sounds like you have a soft code. a soft code is set when a system gets out of parameter momentarily and then goes back in line thereafter. the most common thing is if you started it and it farted and quit. the ecm reads this as a problem and sets a code. after you crank it again and it starts, the light will go out, but retains the memory of the fart.
on the right in the technical faq section there is an accurate procedure for checking/clearing codes.
