Back in the late 60's early 70's I worked for SOHIO and we sold Atlas tires. Their was a code on each tire which told you who manufactured the tire. Some of the old guys who knew this would have us searching through the racks to try and get a matched set of Firestone, Goodyear, or General whatever. I suppose the same DOT code is still being put on each tire.
