I got schooled today. A customer asked for a Xenon bulb for his Ultra. I sold him H-D's H-4 version and away he went. 2 hours later he was back saying it wouldn't fit. My bad. Seems that stock CVO's come with the new Dual Halogen set-up. OK, I start digging and it's an H8 and H11. Both halogen, no Xenon from the moco. We start discussing the HID series and I break a few kits down.
The HID series lamp kits run $500+. They look identical to the Dual Halogen series except that the low beam is an AC, not DC bulb. It's actually a burner like in a diesel engine. It retails for $195.
Really curious, I check into it tonight amd sure as shit, there's a scientific explanation. I don't know if it's worth the money, but it's worth understanding.

It's shit like this that makes my job both interesting and twisting in hell. Who would buy a $500 light assembly with $195 bulbs? 20 years ago the answer would be 0. Surprisingly, I looked and we've sold two sets this year. Maybe they know something I don't.

I would not...fuck me... I can recall the days of replacing a standard sealed beam on my bike for 5.00

But it is what all the cool RUBs are running on their 2 year old, 50 mile bikes. So if they got it I just HAVE to have them for my bike.![]()
And besides, what if I miss the next cool thing the MoCo puts out and get left behind the HOG crowd.I gotta be cool damn the cost.

I read the link with great interest. I drive an hour and a half to work every morning in the dark, and nothing is more irritating (other than when there ain't shit on the satellite radio) thanthe glare off of what is usually a high end car. It is blinding, to say the least. I would however like it more if I were on the other side of the light though.
Too rich for for my wanna be ass anyway. But interesting reading.
Will work for chrome (and gas money).

Never really gave headlights much thought, but that is some interesting reading. Since I'm just a poor bastard riding a Sportster I guess I won't be needing any $195 replacement bulbs in the near future.
They steal em off the high end cars

My H4 works GREAT as I remember when motorcycle headlight was about as good as a candle in a can.
Just a few more states and I will have them all on one motorcycle. If you see my bike on a trailer it is stolen call the police. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r...s/mapsmall.jpg
