The human brain can probably modulate a brake faster than any computer chip. But it takes training that most of us don't have.
I think if you have some fundamental riding skills ABS will not save you versus modulating your brakes. If its that close you will probably crash either way.
Someday motorcycles will be totally computerized. You will sit on it and tell the command module where you want to go and it'll take you there and you won't have to touch a throttle, brake, handlebar, clutch or gear lever. It'll have gyros so you won't have to put your feet down at stops.

I'm not here for a long time I'm here for a good time.
When you buy a new bike, will you have the ABS disconnected? I'm sure it can be done fairly cheap.
I almost cut my hair, it happened just the other day.
It was gettin' kinda long, I could've said it was in my way.
But I didn't and I wonder why, I feel like letting my freak flag fly

Its a dog eat dog world and I'm wearin milkbone underware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If it has it on it I would keep it. I hardly ever get into a situ where I activate ABS. My point is I don't know how necessary it is. Everyone must be out there mashing their brakes in a panic.
When my rear brake locks up I don't panic. I ease up pressure on the brake. I can "feel" it when it locks.
Its cuz kids grow up without coaster brakes these days. No one knows how to skid. When we were kids we would have contests to see who could skid the furthest.
I like dual clutch transmissions. F1 racers use them and they are super fast at gear changes. Would I like one. Sure. Do I need it. No. I haven't been on an F1 track in years.

I was on grooved pavement with loose gravel on it when I crashed last.
I have tons of experience making emergency stops on loose gravel.
So, you are probably right. ABS wouldn't have helped.

Pulling the ABS fuse kills the ABS control module. But the ABS trouble light will be on. Don't think that can be disconnected either as it works on the j1850 serial bus.
Another note: another downside is bleeding the brakes properly on the ABS models, need the Digital TechnicianII to cycle the ABS.
Steve Cole is looking into maybe including this feature into the TTS Mastertune. So, us poor saps won't need to see the dealer if we want to change cables, handlebars etc..
