I grew up watching Cassius Clay/Ali box. He could move and he was great. He was smart and fast. Some great fights. Who can forget. He created the big event type fight.
I always liked Mike. Kid from a tough life gets taken in by Cus Damato and learns discipline. And probably for the first time in his life he had a mentor who actually cared about him. A father figure. Sadly Cus died before Mike became the youngest heavyweight in history and Mike lost his anchor and guide and fell victim to the sharks after him for money and a free ride.
Mike's fighting style was vastly different from Ali. Ali was the Poet and Mike was the Warrior. Tyson devastated his opponents. Ali picked them apart. They were both great in their own way. I doubt I'll see another boxer like either one.

I always liked Ali too but you will never convince me the fight with Liston was on the up & up. Liston was one tough mudder, bulletts hardly slowed him down so how could a phantom punch put him down in round one
Well Ali showed how tough he was against Frazier and Forman
I think a Ali vs Tyson would be alot like Ali vs Frazier... both Frazier and Tyson had fast hands and a hard punch, I think tyson was faster and Forman will tell you that Tyson hit harder than any fighter he ever went against

There were some other things involved too(strong armed). Liston was never counted out.

I think you are thinking of Larry Holmes cuz Foreman never fought Tyson. Tyson dispatched Homes in 4 rounds. Holmes was probably past his prime by then.Originally Posted by Nitram_b4
I think a Tyson in his prime would lose to an Ali in his prime. Ali would be able to dance and stay out of those big punches for the first 4 rounds and then turn things in his favor. Not to take anything away from Tyson because his style was devastating and great in its own way.

Tyson is a nut bag not a boxer. Ali would kick his ass. Tyson should be in a prison system somewhere boxing.

Tyson was a much better boxer than given credit for... everybody see that nastyness and that hard punching power he had and don't look at his boxing skills. I was impressed with his understanding of the game and he also knew his boxing history.
what happened to him after Cus was a shame... of corse Don King ruined alot of fighters not just Tyson... King was a dirt bag and took alot from the sport and didn't give back
