I have a triple X modded S&S G. I have never really been 100% satisfied with it. Has anyone else had problems with them? .....I am thinking that a carb change may be in the future for my hot rod bike. Maybe a big air carb

Strange you should mention this. I was working on a customers bike last week that had a super G, didn't have the triple x kit. But I have never had good luck with the G carbs in general. I think with the triple x kit you need heads that can breath a lot better than most, maybe Zippers.
My Golf Swing is so bad, I look like a caveman killing his lunch.
my engine is a 127 incher, with enough work done to really make it breathe deeply. I just can't convince myself that the carb is really doing all it should for that engine.
I live in the mountains...elevation is always an issue. I tune it for one elevation, and then even with the dual thunder jets, it does not stay crisp and clean when I travel anywhere. I brazed a flex shaft to the low end mixture screw, so I could adjust that while sitting at a stop sign, with the bike running. I have another affixed to the idle screw......
I feel like I am riding an old rat shovel, and tinkering with it all the time

With mine I used a SE CV 50mm carb. I did change the spring, needle, main jet and polished the slide. It is real crisp on the throttle and took care of my altitude issues as well.

what size engine are you running it on..........
Just based on numbers alone, a 50mm carb should be for an engine the size of mine or larger....or one that turns more RPMs than mine

I have a Twinkie 120 CI

that explains it.....if you are still oversquare in that, you can turn more RPMs......
Mine is undersquare with a 4.5 inch stroke.....not a lot of high revs happening there....LOL
I have to stay with a smaller carb, and keep intake velocity higher, to have the throttle response I want

I run a Super G on my Big Dog. It has an old style evo engine and has proven fairly reliable. I get too many backfires though the carb but it's just part of the package.
You might need to one up your slow jet.Originally Posted by 1524montana
And Heretic, Have you considered trying a Super E? The flow is a little more pressurized and could solve your problem.

Already done. I also pulled all of the California emissions crap off my bike. Somehow a vapor canister just doesn't look right on a bad ass bike!!Originally Posted by Relic
