    Shifting Issue

80 degrees here so took it out for a quick jaunt today after sitting thru winter in my garage. Fine for a few miles then when downshifting fron shifter stayed down. If I pushed the heel shifter it would free it up and I could downshift.

Stopped and turned around and same thing happened at next stop sign. Seemed to up shift OK then downshift OK but just before I got back with it same prob.

Just kinda gets stuck down or up. Could it be from sitting?

    lol
Could your shift lever be stripped?

I almost cut my hair, it happened just the other day.
It was gettin' kinda long, I could've said it was in my way.
But I didn't and I wonder why, I feel like letting my freak flag fly

Not sure Roger, Its weird it shifted OK then did it again. Isnt there a spring in there that keeps tension on the shifter ?

    Re: Shifting Issue

Could be as simple as the shifter pivot point. Disassemble, clean, and lube it and see if that fixes it
If that don't work, disconnect the linkage at the tranny and make sure the arm is tight and secure. Try shifting the tranny from this point and check return.
If it don't return then it's the shift drum pawl spring (common on the older trannies) they crack and break. Gearset and shift drum need to come out. Baker makes a better shift pawl than stocker.

Hope it's the first one bro...it's the easiest fix.
