Google Android 2.2 Froyo: Tethering, Wi-Fi hotspot support
I've only been waiting about 10 years for this.
It’s about time.
In a move sure to sweeten the bid for business users, Google will add tethering and Wi-Fi hotspot support to its upcoming Android 2.2 “Froyo” operating system.
TechCrunch reports that the new version will also offer “full Flash support” and “a whopper of a speed improvement,” without going into the details.
USB tethering, of course, allows you to share your paid mobile data connection with your laptop, a serious necessity for corporate road warriors (and tech journalists, too).
The question is whether the carriers will allow it.
I almost cut my hair, it happened just the other day.
It was gettin' kinda long, I could've said it was in my way.
But I didn't and I wonder why, I feel like letting my freak flag fly

I read about doing it with a blackberry but I also read it didn't work very well.
My Tmobile signal really blows in CT. I'm paying the price for Verizon becasue everyone agrees they have the best signal. I also saw that people are sueing Apple and ATT about the lowsy reception on the new Iphone 4.

Doesn't the droid output a wifi signal so you don't have to plug in?

Yes you can connect direct to a wifi network also but why? Unless you have no internet plan.
You can use the internet plan on the phone to use 3g with the computer by cable or bluetooth I use the usb cable and use the phone as a modem. very fast speed and no issue what so ever

So Wide, you like the Droid?
I've about had it with Blackberry. I'm thinking of giving the new Droid X a try. Just curious over how big the 4.3" screen is and if it ruins practicality. I use Google apps, so I'm hoping they work flawlessly together.

My blackberry pissed me off so bad I broke it to peices. lol
Felt good and I have no regrets.
I have an incredible on the way.
The Droid X sounds good too. Every month something better comes out.
I'm hoping to get at least 6 months out of this incredible. My Verizon contract is a year.

It seems like you guys are talkin a foreign language here. I just got a droid incredible and I prolly only know how to use 10% of its capability. A tether is a carrying strap right?
