    Red face 93 ultra

Hi, I am doing a frame up of a 93 Ultra. I think I'm going to have the heads ported and polished and open the cylinders .020. I was wondering on what type and brand piston would be a good choice. It's an evo motor that had 80,000 + miles. and it was a little tired. I'm just looking for a little more torque out of the hole with a second rider.
Any and all advice is appreciated

Are you going to do any cams also? That would help us recommend something

I'm planning on an Andrews ev 27 cam with adjustable push rods, a single fire ignition also

my $0.02? for what you are doing don't waste your money on forged pistons. cast ones in the 9.0-9.5:1 range will do ya just fine. kb/silvolite are good ones, but even the moco ones will serve ya well.....

Thanks for the reply, yeah I didn't want to get too caried with this I think I'm going to stay with a flat top piston as well. In that compression range do you think it's a good idea,(since I'm having the heads ported anyway) to have compression releases put in?

since you are having the heads done, they will likely cc them and equalize the chamber volumes as well. find out what the finished volume is, add in the head gasket volume (can be anywhere from 0.030"-0.050", mic the ones you use) and then figure compression ratio. i don't have the specs for that cam handy, but it is one of andrews most popular evo cams and i believe a bolt-in for the most part. stock compression ratios are @8.8-9.0:1, so if you keep the squeeze conservative you should eliminate the need for releases and also run fine on pump gas.

Thanks man appreciate the advice and yes the ev27 is just a bolt in with the pretty much stock lift, didn't want a thumper. I've done plenty on cars but this is my first build on a bike so I'll probably have a few more questions lol.
    Again thanks for the help
