    Avon VemonX mileage

Maybe the pacific northwest weather helped, just replaced my rear tire after 17,400 miles (15 months) of year round riding. I find these tires to be excellent and replaced it with another Vemon X.

Do you ever exceed 10 mph? Christ, I have to beg 6K out of a Venom X on the rear. Right now I'm running a Cobra with the harder compound in the middle of the tread and it doesn't seem to be making much difference.

OBG, Do a lot of long distance riding and a lot of this is done at 70+ mph. I do keep the tire pressure at the Avon recommendation of 44 psi in the rear tire and 40 psi up front.

I don't get anywhere near that kind of mileage out of my Venom X's. We are two up most all the time though.

Yeah, I see whatcha mean, Horse. I do a lot of in-town riding, to work, shopping, restaurants, etc. Make about 3-4 long trips per year and that's always two-up. Do 5K per year mostly around town. Guess my tires have a hard life. At 70+ the rubber doesn't even know it's on the ground. You can pile the tire-friendly miles on that way.

Check my maintenance records and the previous Avon Vemon X rear tire worn out at just under 15,000 miles. The major difference / change was replacing the stock rear shocks with Progressive shocks. I do little two up riding but haul a lot of gear on long trips.

I got near 18,000 on my front and probably could've stretched another 1k but was leaving on a 6 state trip. My rear got around 14,000. mostly single riding highway speeds/iba rides, often with gear.

I got tires for life when I bought my 08 RK. I took it in at 9500 and told them I thought I needed new tires and they gave them to me. I could have probably gone another 10,000 miles before the absolute limit but I'll tell you my bike rides a hell of a lot better with new tires. I went with Metzlers this time.

I almost cut my hair, it happened just the other day.
It was gettin' kinda long, I could've said it was in my way.
But I didn't and I wonder why, I feel like letting my freak flag fly
