    Irregular idle part 2.

So a month ago I replaced my enrichner cable, took carb off, put it back on, new cable works fine. A couple days later I find myself with an irregular idle when bike is up to temp at a stop. Replaced the carb to manifold seal myself and then had a tech replace my intake seals yesterday.

Riding today get off the highway and the irregular idle is still there. Bike doesn't die and runs well otherwise.

Come home drain the bowl a couple times into a shot glass after some short runs finding some speckles of dirt at the bottom. Played with my idle speed a little but my speed seems quick enough.

I've got a 45 slow jet. Carb need a cleaning? Maybe the tech didn't re-install my manifold right?

Could my install of a new enrichner cable a month ago be causing it to run too rich? I find it does warm up quicker with the new cable. And today when messing with my idle speed, a slower idle I got more smoke blowing out my pipes it seems on throttle and idle with the bike sitting in my garage.

Hard to diagnose this over the net, but your slow (45) jet has very little to do with idling. That is done with your little a/f screw. That circuit could be plugged up. You could also have one of those little air passages plugged up. Might just need a good cleaning. Easy enough to do, just remove the carb, remove some of the small parts and blow some carb spray cleaner through all of these little passages and nooks and crannies. Just be sure to stay away from damaging the slide diaphragm and screwing up the float adjustment (which you might also want to check).

Always a possibility you still have some type of intake leak, albeit remote.

I lowered my idle speed yesterday about 1/4 turn after playing around with different speeds and took it out today, ran the shit out of it and let it idle a few times, no irregular sounding idle. Today is a slightly cooler day.

What about dumping in a bottle of carb cleaner stuff that I was just checking out at Canadian Tire? STP brand, etc. Waste of time? I'd rather do that first than take the carb apart.

Give SeaFoam a try. I use about 1 oz per gallon on two tank fulls every 5k or so.
