Hey guys-
This is a stupid question, but driving me nuts. I have harley heated jacket liner and gloves> i just got a used as wel dual temperature control thermostat but no directions/manual. The controls click on like a dial, with no indication as to which direction is hot vs cooler. in fact, the further you turn the knob (whicih i would presume is hotter) the smaller the little indicator graph above becomes. Hugh? Anybody have one of these dual control thermostats and know if turning all the way to the right, or just barely after clicking on, would be the hottest setting? thanks

Turning it farthest away from the click is the hottest.
I almost cut my hair, it happened just the other day.
It was gettin' kinda long, I could've said it was in my way.
But I didn't and I wonder why, I feel like letting my freak flag fly
Thanks ART!

That's how mine works. You'll find out when you turn it on the first time.
BTW : I never use mine more than half way cuz it gets pretty warm otherwise. Maybe in Dec. when it gets into the low 40's or high 30's I've gone to 3/4's but just to really heat up and then I turn it down.

Shags, your going to love the heated gear. Had mine about 5 years now and it used it down into the low 20's. I experimented with it and have found that sometimes less heat is better. I have the complete set, socks, pants, jacket liner and gloves.
Jacket liner is best when used over a thin long sleeve tee shirt, you want the jacket as close to you skin as possible but not in direct contact. Wearing a vest (or snug sweatshirt) over the jacket will improve the heating ability. With the pants use a thin set of long johns.
My experience, I start out without the turning on the heated gear. When I feel the need I turn it on about half way and as soon as I feel the heat I turn it down to about a one quarter and than increase the heat to a low comfort setting. You want to stay comfortable but not hot.
When you do ride with the heat all the way up, say in the 20 to 30 degree temp range, you may find yourself feel the cold during a long high speed ride (Gerbings are great but they have their limits) I suggest taking a slower route (say frontage road) and return to the hwy after a few minutes. It gives the gear a little time to raise your core temp a little and makes the next leg of your journey more comfortable.
Also be mindful of the connectors. Small amounts of corrosion (especially at the battery pigtail) will degrade the performance. Keep them clean and use a little dielectric grease.

I moved from Detroit to Los Angeles in 1979. But I still visit family in St Clair Shores a couple times a year.
