    New engine light issue

My carbureted '99 Road King just developed a strange symptom; after I go through the normal startup and the bike starts the engine light comes on periodically. The light will go on and off while I ride, without any apparent change or impact, and the light isn't tied to an error code. Any thoughts?

Sounds like possible a bad ground somewhere causing feedback. Check all your grounds, remove and clean

    Right on the nose, Wide.

Thought I'd checked the battery connections but the negative side was a little loose. Half a turn of the wrench later; my Engine light hasn't come back on while running all day. I appreciate the tip.

it can still be a malfunction, but is not a "hard" code. if a component goes out of range momentarily it can trigger the light, but sometimes does not get stored in memory. grounds, poor connections and such can be the root cause but if after you check everything it still happens you might have to get it hooked up to a scanalyzer to verify.
