I cut the original tabs off the tank and made my own. I drilled the frame and welded in some threaded bungs on the top of the backbone. Put some threaded rod in the bungs permanently. So now I just lay the tank over the bungs and tighten down brass acorn nuts to instal the tank. BTW those acorn nuts can be found at your local Ace Hardware store for much cheaper then the MC parts catalogs.

Pretty good welding. Mine always looks like a chimp did it.
My Golf Swing is so bad, I look like a caveman killing his lunch.
Not a whole lot of interest in this build so i'll just skip a few steps. Pretty much finished. Just need to wire her up and work out a few kinks.

Soooo, wiring is up and running, points are gapped, timing is in the ball park, fluids are in, but i can't seem to get the carb to stop flooding it up. Wont idle for more then 30 seconds before dying out. Sounds good and strong until it floods and dies on me. Grrrrrr. Leting it sit for a while until I try again.

6 months later and I finaly finished the Ironhead. Took it for a spin yesterday and made it back alive with a grin on my face so I am pretty happy. Everything from fab work to paint was done in house with exception of powdercoating the frame. Time to register it and ride the hell out of it.
