    harmonic balancer magnet cleaning

I had a local shop put a new belt on my shovelhead and they didn't put comp nut on right, now I had to order new pulley and basket, cause they didnt make sure debree was out of harmonic balancer. Now I get to figure out how to clean magnets. How is the safest way so I don't comprimise the integrety of them? Please HELP!!!

I have another question, what is a good way to get starter solonoid straight with primary? I bolt it down and it sits cocked to the back( towards the bolts), I'm using the spacer like I'm supposed to but it still isn't square. what to do?

the rotor can be cleaned with solvent and a brush, then wipe it with rags. there ain't much more. i don't recommend blowing it out as you'll send small bits of metal everywhere- maybe even an eye.

unless the bell crank for the drive fork is bent, i can't think of a reason why it won't line up- except if you have the oring/gasket cocked...

denatured alcohol and mineral spirits work fine for home use. stay away from using gasoline or other highly flammable materials. make sure you do it in a well ventilated area and properly dispose of leftover solvent and rags.
