    harbor freight balancing stand

well i have my new front tire on its way for my 06 flstsci. This will be my first tire change on a spring so wish me good luck...now im looking at the harbor freight motorcycle wheel balancing stand #98488 looks like it will work great once i get the supports beefed up.it comes with two cone shaped wheel mounts.from what ive read it works on the front tire but needes an adapter for the rear wheel,i guess to keep the spacers alighned.
Now the box says it will work on HD but needs this 65079 adaptor, but does not say why.And this adapter is no loinger available.Has any members used the balance stand?is the reason for the adapter for the rear tire spacers?
Thanks all for the read and the feedback you can help me with.......

I don't know about the HF balancer. From what you describe it has cones to center the wheel on a shaft that is horizontal. I built my balancer and turned cones that would center anything from 3/4" to 2.5 inch inside diameter. If that is the case have someone turn an adapter that fits the Harley rear bearings. Anyone with a lathe can do it.

I was thinking about buying a tire changer and balancer after seeing one on Craigslist. Then I called the local HD dealership and got a quote on a new front tire. They quoted $197 plus tax mounted and balanced. I then checked to see what I could buy just the tire for and the cheapest I found was $169 plus freight so I shelved the idea.

I always change my own tires paid 131.00 for a rear Metz 880 and 98.00 for a front for a total 229.00
I have had friends pay over 600.00 for that at a dealer, no thanks
