Those are cool ideas Wrecker. Here's a couple more. I use a small piece of cardboard and stick it under the filter while I unscrew it so it directs any spillage away from the bike. I put a catch pan under it. Another good use for empty plastic liter bottles around the garage is to cut the bottom section off and use the top for a funnel. A cut off bottom section is good for holding latex paint brushes if you fill it with water. Throw em away when you're done.

I take a spray bottle of water and spray all the areas around the oil filter that will get oil on them and just take the filter off and let it drain down into a pan. Then I take and spray the oily areas with 409 and and rinse with the spray water and cleanup is done.
