    "c" lifters

ok, it happened. hd has upgraded(?) the tc88 lifter design to a "c' suffix. i have a set of "b"'s that have been clattering for the past 50,000 and this winter i am replacing them. just a footnote for those that might be using these parts...

are they better/worse? dunno yet. in some ways they resemble the "a"'s externally, but the immediate difference is that they moved the oil feed hole from the side where it was on "a" and "b", to the front (guide pin side). the advantage here is that now the lifter pressure port lines up with the supply slot in the lifter bore. additionally, the bottom land is taller than the "b". not sure what gives, but that should help with preventing lifter side movement.

these are NOT high performance items, but for those with 203's, tw21's and the like they should do fine. i run tw 21's and we'll see.

I run 203s and use fueling lifters set to .140, noise is louder than stock, but I do have 54,000 on the motor.
I think most of it is a little looseness in the rocker shafts, thinking about going in there and freshing it up.
I think I am going to put the S&S 97" kit in this winter, port the heads as well.
If the "C" lifter turns out to be a better option, I would think about changing out

tremendous difference in noise. i can hear the gear drive easy enough- but NO lifter tick. rattled a bit on first start after putting it all together, but very quiet.
