Installing new Shift Rod. 1 Question

The wife picked me up a new shift rod for Xmas. Everything looks straight forward but i have 1 question. In the back where the rod attaches to the Shifter Rod Lever, does the rod just unscrew from the Lever by backing off the nut? thanks before hand to all helpful replys.

Take the new one and hold it up next to the original and see what the difference is and then just swap it out.

I wonder how many people got stuff for their bikes for Christmas. I got grip heaters for my bike.
