i'm looking to add tune to my ride, came across this on ebay

Let me know what you guys think? What would it take to fabricate one if i just buy a used outer fairing?? would that the an easy job to do?
It looks like a quick & easy on-off for sure. I dont like the price though. If it was half that Id buy it.

I was thinking all i need to do is somehow figure out the inner fairing design and i can really assemble my own.
what others options are there like windshield mount systems etc?
thanks,
Wow that stuff is expensive...It would be nice to modify a stock HD one to work.

On the high side considering "The fairing is sold separately from the required mounting kits. The mounting Hardware cost $159."
i dont know what i was thinking ...a fairing -i dont even have a windshield lol - i think that Born to be Wild song on that ebay ad got me going lol..
anyhow, looks like i''m back to my senses - called this shooting range place i go to and they make custom ear mold silicon ear plugs, we're going to try take some earbud type headphones and pour a mold over them to fit my ear, that ought to be pretty snug and help with wind noise (I want them to work without a helmet)
Cost is $35 + headphones
will let you all know how it works out..
by the way i found this other website that has some generic ear plug headphones -check it out if you'd like.

i have been working on this radio option for a while know , here is a few things i have come up with that might help ..first the old style batwing faoring will fit uo fairly easy , useing you stock windshield brackets that came with your rk windshield , then you can have a quick release fairing, next with a little fooling around and hunting you can mount a radio and speakers useing some fiber glass to make a square box "for radio" and some corner curves for the speakers, you can also use a windshield bag "leather" to mount a radio and some small high tech speakers, you have to experiment a bit , but you can save some big dollers and have a 1 of a kind look

Thanks Wreck, I didnt even think about the old shovel batwings. Those would definatley be the ones to use.

just a quick update i just got back from the big chicago swap meet and seen two of the radio units that were linked above the 1200 one has a 100 price increase on it know but is a awsom unit with great sound and it does come complete and ready to go no addtional parts needed... i also saw the one that mounts to your current windshield and it look's a bit tackey in my opion also the sound is not as good , and i have to wounder weather the cd would skip more because of the way the radio mounts , and i think it would catch more rain and other shit with the radio faceing up..hope this helps a little

Just a quick note for people in the market for radios. If you're going to spend the money for permanent tunes on your ride, spend the tiny extra dough and get a marine radio from a sailing / boating store. They are specifically designed to withstand the elements, and these days are the exact same quality and dimensions of car stereos. they catch all the stations, and play CD's as well, and you never need to worry about the weather -- you can play them in a rainstorm.
