    Harley fork oil

Does anyone know what weight fork oil Harley uses in there Type E fork oil? According to my manual, that is what is used but they don't mention a weight. I am wanting to play with some different weights to fine tune the front suspension.

    Thanks,

    Yotee

Some say its 10W, some say its 15W but I haven't found anyone to confirm. I have used 17.5W PJ-1 fork oil and it is definitely a stiffer ride, but that is not necessarily due to base oil weight alone.

I thought type B was HEAVIER that E

Believe it Not, After several exhaustive hours in the Lab, its 30 weight.

    How did you determine that?

I read it somewhere about 3 years ago. I think it was Ameican Iron Mag or was it Easy Rider.

    Re: Harley fork oil

I've been trying to figure this out for some time now. I've been told now 10W, 15W, 20W, and (now) 30W. Most of the aftermarket fork oils list a 10W or 15W as equivalent. I tend to lean towards one of these as the 17.5W PJ-1 "forktuner" oil feels stiffer than type E, but then again it may be the additives and no the base oil that determines the overall dampening. It could very well be 30W though.
